The properties of fiberglass fiber reinforced plastic plates (glass fiber reinforced plastic plates) are determined by their composite material characteristics, covering multiple dimensions such as physics, mechanics, chemistry, and electrical. The specific details are as follows:

 

 

1. Mechanical and physical properties: taking into account both strength and lightweight​
Lightweight and high strength: The density is only 1.5-2.0g/cm³, which is about 1/4-1/5 of carbon steel and 2/3 of aluminum alloy. The transportation and installation costs are low; but the tensile strength can reach 300-400MPa, which is close to or even exceeds that of ordinary carbon steel. It has excellent bending strength and impact toughness and can withstand a certain load. It is suitable for scenarios such as building load-bearing panels and transportation equipment shells.​
Good thermal stability: The thermal conductivity is low (1.25-1.67kJ/(m・K) at room temperature), which is only 1/100-1/1000 of metal. It is an excellent thermal insulation material and can be used for equipment insulation panels; it can withstand instantaneous ultra-high temperatures (some types can withstand short-term high temperatures above 200°C), and is not easily deformed in high-temperature environments, making it suitable for special industrial scenarios.​
2. Chemical and environmental adaptability: outstanding corrosion resistance and weather resistance​
Strong corrosion resistance: It has good resistance to acids, alkalis, salts (such as sulfuric acid, hydrochloric acid, sodium hydroxide solution), oils and most organic solvents, and does not rust or oxidize. In corrosion-prone scenarios such as chemical workshop anti-corrosion walls, sewage treatment equipment panels, and marine environment facilities, the service life is 4-6 times longer than traditional metal plates.​
Excellent weather resistance: An anti-UV gelcoat layer can be added to the surface, which can resist the erosion of natural environments such as sun, rain, wind and frost. It is not easy to fade, crack, or age when exposed to the outdoors for a long time. It has strong light retention and is suitable for outdoor billboards, building exterior wall decorative panels, photovoltaic bracket panels, etc.​
3. Function and design attributes: Flexible adaptation to diverse needs​
Insulation and wave permeability: It is an excellent insulating material with stable dielectric properties and can still maintain the insulation effect in high-frequency environments. It can be used for insulating panels of electrical equipment and high-voltage switch cabinet partitions. At the same time, it has high microwave transmittance and is an ideal material for radar radomes and communication equipment covers. It does not interfere with signal transmission.​
High designability: The formula (such as changing resin type, glass fiber content) and molding process (hand lay-up, molding, pultrusion, etc.) can be flexibly adjusted according to needs. It can not only be made into different shapes such as planes and curved surfaces, but also can be customized with specific properties (such as high temperature resistance, flame retardant, anti-static) to adapt to individual needs such as special-shaped decoration of buildings and special equipment shells.​
4. Advantages of use and maintenance: low loss and easy care​
Impermeability and surface characteristics: The overall compactness is good, and the gel coat layer can be completely impermeable, suitable for waterproof scenes such as water tank panels and pool linings; the surface has a high smooth finish and is not easy to accumulate dust and stains. Daily cleaning only requires wiping with clean water, and the maintenance cost is low.​
Long lifespan and easy to repair: under normal use, the lifespan can reach 15-20 years, far exceeding that of traditional boards; if there is partial damage, the performance can be restored after repairing with resin, and the repair marks are not obvious, and there is no need to replace the whole, further reducing the cost of use.​
